If you think CAPCOM is behind this… well, actually, no. This time, it’s not CAPCOM, but still, we can finally enjoy something that measures up to that first game, which won our hearts and became a classic of 90s survival horror. And who put in the effort? His name is Stefano Cagnani, a die-hard fan of the franchise whose remake we’ve been waiting for years. He alone is working tirelessly to develop and deliver his own remake of our beloved Dino Crisis!

That’s right, we’re talking about DINO CRISIS REBIRTH, a beautiful product that stays true to its origins. It currently features a fully playable and enjoyable demo that you can download COMPLETELY FOR FREE (a €1 donation is entirely optional) from its official website, which you can access by simply CLICKING HERE.
As we always do when discussing a game still in development, it’s worth mentioning that it has some aspects that need polishing, as expected, BUT… let’s focus on the positives, shall we? We’re talking about a product that will soon be fully playable from start to finish, with impressive visuals, and—if we remember the original game—remarkably faithful to it… and if that wasn’t enough, it’s all developed by a single person! You and I know that effort is worth more than gold, right? Beyond that effort and dedication, Stefano Cagnani has made the demo available to everyone as a free download from his website!

Respect for a Classic
Something that stands out immediately is its impressive visual aspect, as mentioned before, achieved thanks to the Unreal Engine graphics engine. Moreover, gone are the pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed cameras, opting for greater dynamism by using perspectives similar to those we’ve enjoyed in recent remakes like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
Cagnani has admitted that the title is entirely inspired by the original 1999 Dino Crisis (hence, the intentional “error” with the word CAPCON at the beginning), as he is a huge fan of this masterpiece and wanted to respect the atmosphere and sense of terror it conveyed while giving it a more modern touch. He also expressed his joy at being able to release something like this, noting that it is a very important milestone for him, one that he wanted to share with the community.

Another important detail is that the creator asks for a minimum of one euro to download this demo, thus supporting the work he is doing. However, those who prefer not to pay can still download it for free if they wish. In any case, we’ll have to see if any of this encourages Capcom to follow suit and revive Dino Crisis after more than 20 years.
Let’s remember that not too long ago, CAPCOM asked the fan community which titles they would like to see return in the form of a remake or remaster. After a public vote accessible through their website, only two or three titles emerged as front-runners, with DINO CRISIS receiving the most votes. At that time, the community spoke, and we want to believe that something big could be brewing in CAPCOM’s development studios, but unfortunately, we don’t have any confirmation yet. All we can do is hope that the Japanese giant doesn’t make things difficult for small independent developers like Stefano Cagnani with legal matters and such.

In any case, I think it means a lot to the entire DINO CRISIS fan community, including myself, to be able to enjoy a product of this quality, created with such devotion and respect for the original franchise. Dino Crisis Rebirth is undoubtedly a project that deserves to be supported and encouraged by all of us, don’t you think? And now, how about you join the comments and share your thoughts on this news? Or even better, your best memories of the original title—surely, you have some funny jumpscare stories to share, right? I certainly have mine, haha… you know, gamer, we’ll be reading your comments! 😉
