Yes, we know. It has recently been confirmed that expansions and remasters can be candidates for Game of the Year (GOTY) at The Game Awards 2024, which obviously makes a lot of sense. In both cases, the effort and the resulting product from developers of all calibers are evident. At least in my humble opinion, it is completely fair and logical for them to be recognized and rewarded for that, regardless of whether it’s a DLC or a remaster of another product that had already earned a place in our gamer hearts.
Geoff Keighley and The Game Awards organization announced today the list of all projects, studios, and key individuals that could receive recognition in the 2024 edition of the event, which will take place on December 12, according to their schedule. It must be said that among the nominees, some specific titles stand out, such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and ASTRO BOT, which have received seven nominations each, and Metaphor: ReFantazio with six nominations, being the three candidates for GOTY 2024. Others are also making noise, such as Black Myth: Wukong and Silent Hill 2 Remake with four nominations each, or the independent Neva, of Spanish origin, with three nominations this year, including Best Indie Game and Best Art Direction.
