FEROCIOUS promises to be a fast-paced action FPS with intense combat on an island infested with dinosaurs, where in addition to the dangerous carnivores (yes, I said it right, why would you fight herbivores?) we will have to fight against armed forces, mercenaries, soldiers, and even mechs! Yes, of course, we will have to ride some of them… the… mechs… not the dinosaurs XD. If you’re looking for that, go play ARK.
Developed by OMYOG and published by tinyBuild, the visual aspect of this game reminds me a lot of the typical Far Cry action, and I mean the coolest moments of Ubisoft’s franchise, when we ran wildly through some tropical jungle, firing bullets left and right, those were the good times! And understand that I’m mentioning Far Cry as an almost unconditional fan of the franchise in general, so you should understand that reference as something positive, coming from me 🙂 … But what exactly is FEROCIOUS and why is that a good reference? Well… To start with, take a look at its Official Gameplay Trailer, courtesy of IGN, and then we’ll talk about it:
You, dinos, mechs… what could go wrong?
FEROCIOUS will invite us to dive into an FPS survival adventure in which we will find ourselves trapped on an extremely dangerous island, facing dinosaurs, mercenaries, and even mechs! And all of this in a vibrant ecosystem, as beautiful as it is hostile. Ancient ruins, an unexplored jungle, and the unending danger of constantly feeling hunted, every element of the environment will add its share of tension to our need for survival. We will have to explore this open world to discover its secrets, and those rewards that will be waiting only for the bravest.
As you will have been able to see, the combat will be relentless and intense, both with mercenaries and with dinosaurs and mechs, in an FPS action adventure with all the letters. And as if that weren’t enough, we will have to craft weapons and gear using resources from the environment to adapt to each challenge the island has to offer us. Modifying our arsenal will often be our best strategy, with multiple options available when it comes to customizing it. Thanks to that, each fight will offer an unforgettable and high-risk experience.
Although at the beginning I mentioned a strong reference to Far Cry, which I repeat, is a good thing coming from me, FEROCIOUS obviously has its own identity and a very well-defined one, also adding some survival touches to the frantic FPS action. Wild predators, limited resources, and treacherous terrain that we will have to explore to find hidden paths, secrets, and essential gear. In many situations we will even find ourselves forced to “use” the dangerous fauna to attack enemies, open paths, or sneak into guarded areas.
It’s true, FEROCIOUS has given me that Far Cry vibe with dinosaurs, but come on, it’s not that crazy, right? If you’ve been able to play on Pandora, why couldn’t you play in the Mesozoic? Yeah, ok, seriously now, as I said before, FEROCIOUS has its own unique and well-defined identity, and even if I make jokes about its resemblance to a certain known franchise, it’s definitely a game that, even without knowing its storyline, I’d love to try firsthand as soon as it comes out. Its visual design speaks for itself, just as you can see in the video that goes with this article, and its gameplay feels extremely addictive and gripping!

FEROCIOUS doesn’t have an official release date yet, although it’s expected to be announced soon.
