Oceanhorn 3: Chronos Dungeon Set For 2025
The legendary Oceanhorn saga returns once again with its third installment, adopting a completely different visual style, but keeping that epic adventure feel we like so much. Cornfox & Brothers Ltd., responsible for the previous two entries, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas from 2015, and Oceanhorn: Knights of the Lost Realm from 2020, are once again the developers of this new adventure titled Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, which is planned for release during the second quarter of 2025.
With a look we could call “retro and refreshed,” this time showing a top-down 2D pixel-art style in the best style of the early classics of the Zelda saga, Chronos Dungeon seeks to bring together the best of different eras, in a clear homage to the beloved 16-bit dungeon crawlers that filled the lives of entire generations with beautiful memories, but with innovations and the fluidity of today’s titles. Obviously, you’ll understand better what we mean once you see the Official Trailer for Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon we’ve left for you below, courtesy of GameTrailers:
A Dungeon Crawler for All Ages
Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon presents itself as a dungeon game for up to four players in local co-op mode, inspired by the classic 16-bit arcade games. During this adventure, we’ll be able to fight side by side with our friends or simply control the group of heroes on our own. Either way, our objective will always be the same: reach the bottom of the Chronos Dungeon.
This installment of Oceanhorn is particularly designed to be very friendly to beginners in the genre, so learning its mechanics will be extremely easy. But we shouldn’t worry, because for those of us who have some experience with this kind of adventure, Chronos Dungeon will also present challenges suited to our level, promising to keep us entertained for hours.

A Bit of Oceanhorn’s History
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas, released on PC in 2015, on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, and on Switch and PSVITA in 2017, told the story of a young protagonist who was embarking on an adventure after the sudden disappearance of his father. In a world made up of floating islands known as the Archipelago of Gaia, the protagonist had to search for clues about his father while facing dangerous enemies and mythical creatures, including the legendary monster Oceanhorn.

Guided by his father’s journal and the help of ancient sages, the hero explored ancient ruins, collected magical artifacts, and discovered secrets of a lost civilization that used the energy of elemental emblems. As he advanced, an ancestral conflict between humans and a mechanical force known as the Living Fortresses was starting to show itself, letting the hero know that Oceanhorn wasn’t just a creature, but part of a much greater legacy. The game mixed exploration, puzzles, and combat in a fantasy environment clearly inspired by titles like The Legend of Zelda, but with an original 3D view.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, which was released for iPhone and Switch in 2020, and then for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2023, was shown as a prequel, set a thousand years before the events of the first game, on a continent called Gaia. Here we played as a young unnamed knight who, together with his allies Gen and Trin, had to stop the villain Mesmeroth, a dark sorcerer, from unleashing a devastating war using ancient technology and the power of the elemental emblems.

The game greatly expanded the Oceanhorn universe, introducing a more complex narrative and more developed characters, while it explored themes like betrayal, sacrifice, and the struggle between magic and technology. Throughout the journey, the protagonist was guided by Master Mayfair and Arcadio, facing multiple challenges and revealing the origin of many of the threats that would strike the world in the future. With third-person gameplay more focused on strategic combat and solving puzzles as a team, Oceanhorn 2 offered a more cinematic experience than its predecessor.

About Chronos Dungeon
It has been a long time since the White City was wiped from the face of Gaia, and the once magnificent Kingdom of Arcadia was shattered into hundreds of islands in the Uncharted Sea. In that context, four brave adventurers will embark on a journey to restore the world to its former glory. Following rumors and prophecies, they have found a way to access a mythical underground complex: Chronos Dungeon.
In its depths, hidden somewhere, lies the Paradigm Hourglass, an object powerful enough to alter history, which only raises the question: will our heroes find the route to the bottom floor? And if so, what challenges will await them inside Chronos Dungeon? Obviously, it’s up to us to find out and answer those questions!

Some Highlighted Features:

If fewer than four local players are available, the idle adventurers can be selected on the fly by any player.
