Yeah, okay, we know very well that it’s not always about AAAs, but you can’t deny PS Plus has given away plenty of hidden gems you really shouldn’t miss, and this October won’t be an exception, since you’ll definitely want to add these titles to your library. On this occasion, for example, we do have a AAA as the number one on the list, a horror classic that has become, just like its predecessor, a cult icon! On the other hand, don’t forget that until Tuesday, October 7th in the morning, you can still claim the titles from September, if you haven’t done it yet. PS Plus Essential: October 2025 Games

Alan Wake 2 (2023) – Remedy Entertainment – PS5

In this long-awaited sequel to the cult classic, players return to the unsettling universe of the famous writer Alan Wake, who now struggles to escape a dark alternate plane while investigating the horrors lurking in the small town of Bright Falls. Alan Wake 2 takes psychological terror to a whole new level thanks to its deeply atmospheric narrative and its impressive visuals, which take advantage of the PS5’s power to deliver haunting landscapes and lighting effects that heighten the suspense. Its storyline unfolds like a tension-filled thriller where the line between reality and nightmare blurs with every clue uncovered, drawing the player into an experience that blends mystery, survival, and moments of genuine dread.

The title offers more refined mechanics compared to its predecessor, with more tactical combat and the strategic use of light as a key tool to survive the creatures emerging from the darkness. The story is told through two perspectives: Alan Wake’s and that of a new FBI agent who arrives in Bright Falls to investigate strange murders, which adds variety and depth to the narrative. Each scene is carefully designed to maintain tension and suspense, with somber settings and immersive sound design that enhance the experience. Alan Wake 2 is, without a doubt, one of the most impactful games in the contemporary horror genre and an essential pick for fans of dark stories.

Cocoon (2023) – Geometric Interactive – PS4, PS5

Cocoon is an enigmatic adventure and puzzle game created by Jeppe Carlsen, lead designer of Limbo and Inside, that stands out for its unique concept of worlds within other worlds. In this minimalist and visually captivating experience, the player guides a small insect-like creature exploring mysterious, desolate landscapes while discovering orbs that contain entire dimensions which can be carried and manipulated to solve puzzles. Each new environment introduces innovative mechanics, making learning constant and maintaining the sense of wonder and discovery.

The artistic design is one of its strongest points: it combines vibrant colors with barren settings, creating an intriguing and poetic sci-fi atmosphere. The puzzles are carefully integrated into the environment and require ingenuity to alter spatial logic, as the player must use the worlds themselves as tools to progress. Despite lacking dialogue, Cocoon manages to convey emotion and curiosity through its ambient soundtrack and visual storytelling. Its originality and mechanical elegance make it one of the freshest indie titles in the catalog, perfect for players seeking contemplative and clever experiences.

Goat Simulator 3 (2022) – Coffee Stain North – PS4, PS5

The world’s most chaotic goat returns with Goat Simulator 3, a hilarious sequel that cranks the absurdity up to even wilder levels. In this irreverent sandbox, the player controls Pilgor, the iconic goat, and can freely explore an open world full of secrets, ridiculous challenges, and unpredictable physics that encourage causing all sorts of disasters. From launching yourself with rocket packs to triggering explosions in unexpected places, every session is an invitation to laughter and improvised chaos.

Goat Simulator 3 offers local and online multiplayer for up to four players, multiplying the chances to create ridiculous scenarios with friends. The variety of events, missions, and collectibles keeps exploration rewarding, while the constant cultural references and self-aware humor about gaming clichés maintain a lighthearted, parodic tone. With improved graphics and larger, more detailed environments than its predecessor, the game retains its absurd, rule-free spirit, ideal for quick, carefree sessions full of spontaneous fun.
