When discussing current FPS games, it’s impossible not to recall one of the games that has become legendary, one of the forefathers of modern FPS games, so to speak. Undoubtedly, the name Half Life has transcended far beyond its initial concept. The story has granted it, beyond all the recognition it deserves, a juicy sequel which was followed by two additional chapters, leaving us super eager for years waiting for a continuation… that never arrived.

The original title was released in 1998, and its sequel, Half Life 2, in 2004. Subsequently continuing that story, its Episodes 1 and 2 were released in 2006 and 2007 respectively. After that, in 2019, came Half Life: Alyx, which was released exclusively for VR devices but can now be obtained with a MOD that allows it to be played even without VR devices. At one point, a Half Life 2 Episode 3 was scheduled for Christmas 2007, but it was never confirmed, which has led to it being considered as a piece of false news, or “vaporware.” The original Half Life has also received spin-offs such as Blue Shift and Opposing Force, noteworthy mods (like Gunman Chronicles and others focused on multiplayer like Counter Strike) and remakes, such as Black Mesa Source, among others of varying importance.

The fact is that a lot, a whole lot, an excessive amount of water has passed under the bridge and for a time that has seemed eternal to all of us, nothing has been said about Half Life 3… UNTIL NOW.
For nearly two decades, the name Half Life 3 has been synonymous with mystery and frustration for the community of which we all, or at least most of us, are part. Despite incessant rumors, leaks, and theories, Valve, the company behind the Half Life series, has never officially confirmed the existence of the game, or its development. HOWEVER, it appears a new ray of hope has emerged from the hands of Gabe Follower, a well-known leaker and data miner specialized in Valve titles, especially Counter Strike. After three years of intense research on his own, he has finally asserted that Half Life 3 not only exists, but he has also managed to uncover some of the fascinating details about the game.

Gabe Follower, whose name is well-known in the Counter-Strike and Valve community, has been immersed in researching Half-Life 3 for three years. Throughout this time, he has gathered information through various methods, including code analysis, interviews with former Valve developers, and the review of patents and company documents. According to him, these efforts have finally paid off, and he has found convincing evidence that Half-Life 3 is under development, or at least in an advanced stage of planning.

Key Features That Half Life 3 Might Include
While Gabe Follower has not been able to reveal all the details, he has shared some key features that, according to him, will be part of Half-Life 3. These features seem to indicate that the game will take the series to a new level, with innovations that could redefine the FPS genre.
- Semi-open world: Unlike the previous linear titles of Half-Life, this new approach will allow players to explore the environment more freely. However, it seems that Valve will not completely abandon its traditional narrative approach but will integrate it within this new semi-open world design.
- Dynamic weather system: This means that players will be able to experience different weather conditions, such as torrential rains, thunderstorms, and sunny days, all in real-time. This system could have an impact on gameplay, altering visibility, mobility, and combat tactics at different times during the game.
- Day and night cycle: This cycle will affect not only the lighting and atmosphere of the game but also the behavior of enemies and NPCs (non-playable characters).
- Intelligent NPCs that can talk to you: These NPCs will not only follow pre-established dialogue patterns but will also be able to engage in contextual conversations based on the player‘s actions and the state of the world in the game. This advancement could add an additional layer of narrative depth, making the player‘s decisions and actions have a more tangible impact on the story’s development.

Near Future
Despite these exciting revelations, Gabe Follower has not been able to provide a release date or a timeframe for Half-Life 3. Valve is known for its secrecy and perfectionist approach, which means that the game could be under development for several more years before it is ready to be released to the public.
Nonetheless, from here we choose to be optimistic, and believe that, with a bit of luck, we might soon have exciting new news about this development, or even some news pointing to its release perhaps by the end of 2025, or 2026. Obviously, dreaming is free, right?

And since we’ve gotten sentimental, how about you swing by the comments and leave us your opinion on this amazing news? Or your best moments with the titles of the saga, which if you’ve made it this far, surely you have your favorites. You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
