For the past two or three years up to now, roguelite games have been on the rise. Maybe it started with the release of the now-iconic Vampire Survivors back in 2022, no one could say for sure. The thing is that since then there has been innovation, looking for new ways and formulas to give a twist to this genre that, like all those that become quickly popular, has also become relatively stale.
In this case, com8com1 and Headup seem to have come up with a formula just as fun as it is appealing: just over a week ago, on May 22nd, they released their roguelite Bloodshed, an addictive and frenetic first-person action game, with a retro pixel-art aesthetic and multiple characters to choose from, also spiced up with witty dialogues that definitely match the fast-paced rhythm of this title. If you want to see what I mean, I invite you to check out its Official Launch Trailer, courtesy of GameTrailers:
Satanic Cults, Ancient Deities, and Lots of Shooting!
Lately I tried many demos of games that are coming soon, and others that are already out, and I must say this was one of the very few cases where I didn’t need more than five minutes of trying the free demo to decide to download the full game, and once I did that I played it for a few hours to give an informed opinion 😉 . If you want to find out its exact cost, and about the current discount that lasts until June 5th, go to the end of the article, but anyway I advise you to keep reading to get an idea of everything Bloodshed can offer.
This title combines fascinating roguelite-style elements, a striking retro visual style, and the frenetic action characteristic of “Survivors”-type games. In it we will fight against endless waves of undead, collecting experience points and upgrading our skills and weapons during a battle to survive the night. Even if death reaches us, we will hang on to the money earned, and we will be able to use it to unlock permanent upgrades and additional content. That way, we will be able to keep progressing and enriching the gameplay experience.

We will face the dark threat of the Cult, whose members plot a sinister plan to resurrect an ancient deity and trigger the apocalypse. Cultists, undead, demons and other creatures of the night will all try to stop us, and each one of them will challenge us in a different way, so we will have to adapt our strategies to each situation without wasting time, since hostile forces will come wave after wave! And that very ability to adapt will lead us to the next point: the countless customization options.
In Bloodshed we will enjoy a gameplay experience tailored to us: we will have at our disposal a varied selection of characters with unique abilities and playstyles, plus a large arsenal of weapons and even more abilities to unlock, and create the perfect combination for our playstyle and our survival. And since death will not be the final point of our efforts, we will always be able to keep progressing thanks to ongoing upgrades, hidden content, and the possibility to exchange money for permanent improvements, not to mention the juicy rewards for some optional objectives, which among other things will unlock new abilities and other features that will allow us to be better prepared for our next attempt.

Some Features Highlighted by the Developers:
- Exciting first-person shooter dynamics: feel the adrenaline of auto-fire battles in various biomes.
- Wide variety of characters: select heroes with special abilities, strengths, and weaknesses that define their playstyle.
- Fully loaded and powerful arsenal: explore and upgrade a wide variety of weapons and abilities to create your most effective strategy.
- Continuous upgrade system: unlock upgrades as you progress, which will make each new run more exciting.
- Dynamic enemy hordes: fight against opponents with special abilities and constantly evolving unique attacks. If you manage to defeat elite enemies, you’ll get greater rewards!
- Retro graphics and a touch of adrenaline: enjoy pixelated visuals in Boomer Shooter style and fast, fluid movement mechanics.
- Immersive soundtrack: dive into the universe of Bloodshed with music that adapts to the rhythm of the action and makes it even more exciting.
- Bloody combat: enjoy the striking visual effects and the satisfying feeling after each battle.
- Customizable shooting modes: activate auto-fire mode to feel like you’re playing a Survivors-type game or “switch to manual” and shoot at your own pace.
