The Xbox Partner Review event was packed with announcements and surprises, and if we’re talking surprises, one of the biggest was undoubtedly the reveal of Bloober Team’s new game. This is the same studio that, just a few days ago, officially launched the remake of Silent Hill 2, widely considered one of the best and most anticipated remakes in recent years, on par with the Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, and Dead Space remakes. Bloober Team, which at one point raised doubts about the project after releasing a trailer that didn’t quite meet the high expectations at the time, has now managed to dispel any remaining skepticism by unexpectedly showcasing the new face of their project—the horror game Cronos The New Dawn.
The Latest from Bloober Team, the Creators of Silent Hill 2 Remake
Bloober Team developers set out to surprise us all, and they certainly succeeded! They revealed what they’ve been working on, and at first glance, it looks fantastic: Cronos The New Dawn, a new third-person survival horror game. The cinematic trailer they shared gave us a glimpse of what to expect in the game, including two or more quite disturbing scenes, which is obviously a good sign.
This new survival horror game is expected to release sometime in 2025, and it will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Its description reads: “Cronos: The New Dawn is a thrilling third-person survival horror game that places you at the center of a deadly confrontation against overwhelming enemies, where you’ll have to uncover the mysteries hidden behind a twisted story of time travel. Cronos: The New Dawn is set in a bleak world that blends retrofuturistic technology with the brutalism of Eastern Europe, where you’ll discover a story that blurs the boundaries between the past and the future”.
Once again, Bloober Team is betting on the horror genre, but this time with what seems to be a much bigger budget than before, judging by the quality shown at the Xbox event. And as you might imagine, it’s far too early to say anything definitive about the final product, but you can, like me, choose to be optimistic about it.
Personally, I believe it’s going to be a good game, or at least that’s what the cinematic trailer leads me to think, and I emphasize that this is just my personal opinion. The studio is clearly showing a desire to keep improving, without losing sight of their goal to surprise us once again, just as they did with their Silent Hill 2 Remake.
