Star Wars Jedi 3 Could Change Everything

A few years ago, we got to enjoy for the first time what was surely one of the best adaptations set within the Star Wars cinematic universe. We’re talking about the Star Wars Jedi franchise, developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, which introduced us to a young padawan named Cal Kestis, who, along with his brave companions, stood against the Empire with all his strength, as well as the consequences of the fateful Order 66.

This franchise has had two installments so far, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in 2019, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor which arrived in 2023. While the first installment established the foundations that would define this saga, its sequel not only lived up to expectations, but improved the formula, achieving gameplay and narrative depth that undoubtedly pleased everyone. Now then, it is no secret that the third installment is currently in development, although the information available about it has been very limited… until now.

Recently, the user IdleSloth84_ has made public on their X account a lot of apparently relevant information about this third installment. As always when we talk about “leaked information”, we advise discretion regarding its level of credibility, and in any case, to continue waiting for official reports before getting truly excited. But before diving into the news, how about giving a quick recap of the story this saga has told us so far? Of course, you can skip this recap, but it never hurts to remember what happened in previous chapters of a series, right?

The Terrible Order 66 and Its Consequences

First of all, and in case you are not familiar with the story established by the Star Wars cinematic universe, we will make a quick but necessary stop to talk about Order 66. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine authorized the use of a large clone army to combat the separatist faction, thus marking the beginning of the Clone Wars. During three difficult years, Jedi Masters and clone troopers fought side by side, building a relationship of mutual trust that truly worked on the battlefield. Until Order 66 was issued.

The creation of the clone army, and its use within the Republic, were part of a secret plan by Chancellor Palpatine, whose secret identity was Darth Sidious, a powerful Sith Lord. As a key part of his plan, he ordered the installation of a directive in all the clones of his army, Order 66, which once executed, classified all active Jedi as traitors and ordered their execution. In just a few hours, nearly ten thousand Jedi died across the galaxy, the same fateful night in which the Republic began to turn into the Empire.

The Journey So Far: Fallen Order and Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order: The story follows Cal Kestis, a young padawan who survived Order 66 and lives in hiding years after the fall of the Jedi Order, until he is forced to use the Force and becomes exposed to the Empire, which sends Inquisitors to hunt him down. Rescued by Cere Junda and the crew of the Mantis, Cal joins them on a mission to find a holocron that contains the location of Force sensitive children, with the hope of rebuilding the Jedi Order. Throughout the journey, Cal faces his trauma, rediscovers his connection to the Force and confronts both the Empire and his own past, culminating in the decision to destroy the holocron to prevent the Empire from finding those children, accepting that the future of the Jedi must arise naturally and not be forced.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: Set five years later, it shows a more experienced but also more worn down Cal, who continues fighting against the Empire while trying to find a safe place where Jedi and their allies can live freely. The plot revolves around the search for Tanalorr, a hidden planet that could serve as a refuge, while Cal faces new threats such as the ancient Jedi Dagan Gera and other enemies who are also pursuing that power. Meanwhile, the game dives deeper into Cal’s internal conflicts, caught between light and darkness and marked by loss and constant war, turning the story into a mix of survival, hope and temptation toward revenge as he tries to define what it truly means to be a Jedi in a galaxy ruled by the Empire.

What Lies Ahead: Star Wars Jedi 3

As we mentioned before, this information has been shared by the user IdleSloth84_ on their X account, where he left us with a lot of new details about this third installment. Among all the information we will now share, it is said that its release would be planned for the first half of 2026, that is, from January to June, which means it would actually be closer than expected. And even if that sounds like very good news, the strong point of that information is not how close its possible release might be! Keep reading:

  • The game is expected to be significantly larger, with multiple new planets that would in turn feature unique biomes, advanced traversal systems and environmental storytelling.
  • There will now be a shift from linear levels to expansive galactic hubs for a more immersive exploration experience.
  • From a narrative standpoint, it is said to feature a much darker and more mature story, focused on brutal consequences and high stakes drama, without lighter elements.
  • The main antagonist will belong to a new faction with philosophical ties to the Force, marking a difference from traditional conflicts centered on the Empire.
  • Force abilities will expand beyond basic telekinesis, including environmental manipulation and powers to alter perception.
  • Combat will now become more intense and reactive, with adaptive enemy AI that responds to player strategies, encouraging varied tactics instead of repetitive combos.
  • Its 2026 release aligns with EA’s patterns, the growth of Respawn’s team and the feedback received on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor regarding pacing and mechanics.
  • However, there is some caution regarding possible changes due to fan expectations, corporate oversight and issues EA has had in the past with monetization, although it is unlikely that microtransactions will be included.

As mentioned earlier, what IdleSloth84_ has shared is no small thing, although we will have to wait to confirm all of this from official sources. I think we might have reasons to feel both happy and anxious at the same time, don’t you think?

So…

There is not much more to add. Star Wars Jedi 3 still does not have a confirmed release date or window, and the only thing that for now points to this year as a possibility, I am sorry to remind you, is leaked information, and as such, we always advise you to take it with caution, you know. Now then, while we wait, how about heading to the comments and telling us your expectations for this third installment of the now iconic saga from Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts? You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
