Leaked: Next Two RE Remakes Revealed!
On February 27, Resident Evil Requiem will be released, the new entry in the iconic saga, which, combined with other important events, seems to indicate that this will be a big year for the franchise. Part of that magnitude is the fact that this year is also expected to bring the next major remake from this iconic universe. The community speculates across social media, forums, and online sites, and many expect that it will be Resident Evil 5, but a recent leak appears to confirm that two other titles will be the ones benefiting instead.

It all started a few days ago, when Eva La Dare, the actress who portrayed Sheva in RE5, commented that she has some secret to share next March, indicating through several hashtags that it is something related to the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil. Fans were filled with hope, betting on a possible announcement of the remake of the fifth numbered entry, but Dusk Golem, a respected insider within the franchise, has commented that this is simply not going to happen, or at least not anytime soon. According to his information, the next remake to be announced would be Code Veronica, and the one to follow it, sooner or later, would be Resident Evil Zero.
According to the data gathered by Dusk Golem, the remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica will be announced and shown at some point during 2026. It’s worth noting that this title, which was originally exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast, was particularly well received by fans at the time, despite changing several things players had come to expect from the franchise. From the start, Code Veronica was the first game to abandon pre-rendered backgrounds in favor of fully polygonal graphics, marking a significant visual leap, and adding a much more complex design on Rockfort Island. The engine used allowed it to display real-time 3D graphics, enabling freer exploration and a greater sense of scale.

It also allowed players to get to know the story of the Redfield siblings, Claire and Chris, in much greater depth, and reintroduced Wesker with a far more substantial antagonist role. Thanks to this entry, the Resident Evil universe expanded significantly, further developing the storyline surrounding the Ashford family, as well as Rockfort Island itself. All of this took place within a more gothic and mysterious atmosphere, far removed from the “rural” horror of RE1, featuring finely detailed environments such as a military academy and a luxury mansion.

Although the Sega Dreamcast version was the most faithful, Code Veronica X was eventually released for PS2, GameCube, and other consoles, a version that added content but also introduced significant changes to lighting and dialogue, affecting the original experience for many fans. While many appreciated the extra content, many others did not respond well to the changes introduced in the new version compared to the original. Overall, although it was initially criticized, Code Veronica is now remembered positively by the community.

So…
Okay, then… Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and Resident Evil Zero, those are the titles we can expect to hear about later this year, according to Dusk Golem. BUT, remember gamer, we are talking about leaked information, and we always advise taking this kind of info with a grain of salt, since absolutely none of this has been officially revealed. Anyway, even if the info is not official, it has certainly given us something to talk about, right? Now be good and head over to the comments, and tell us what you think about the possibility of receiving a Code Veronica remake. You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
