Pink Noise: A Different Visual Novel TBA Soon
This is a great time in the world of video games. Day after day, we see countless titles, both indies and AAA, and international events like Gamescom 2025 fill us with fresh news and unexpected surprises. Needless to say, Silksong seems to be eating up the market right now, despite the mixed player reviews, and we kind of feel bad for those titles that released around the same dates, since the eclipse and the shadow it has cast over other lesser-known or less-anticipated games have been total and brutal.
But, even though right now some giants from different genres seem to have the industry under control, we’re glad that other smaller projects are still in development and actually aiming for different release windows. One of these projects is Pink Noise, developed by Somber Games, a visual novel that blends psychological horror with highly immersive storytelling, featuring a unique hand-painted visual style and a chilling mystery to solve, or let it consume us. Here’s the Official Teaser Trailer for Pink Noise, courtesy of GameTrailers:
90s Horror, and a Mysterious VHS Tape
Pink Noise offers us a nonlinear psychological horror visual novel that takes place during the 90s, in Riverwood, a fictional small provincial town in the United States. We are in one of those places where time seems to have frozen years ago, and nothing releases the community from its stagnant lethargy. In this context, a group of teenagers discover a strange unmarked VHS tape, and driven by curiosity, they decide to watch it because… What could possibly go wrong?

This event unleashes a series of terrifying occurrences: the VHS tape begins to infiltrate the minds of the group, turning their deepest fears into a terrible reality. From this point on, the story becomes a race against time to discover the origin of the VHS tape, and escape the nightmare before it is too late. Whether we choose to help the characters survive, or let them fall into ruin, the story will continue anyway, although the ending can turn out very different either way, depending on our decisions.
At first glance, it is clear that the guys at Somber Games have put a lot of love and dedication into this project. Its finely hand-drawn scenes and characters dazzle us effortlessly, while also evoking those 90s times in a respectful way, using that retro style that looks so good! This adventure aims to be the first of five episodes, each diving even deeper into new layers of horror and mystery.

Key Features Highlighted by its Developers:
- • Hundreds of hand-painted frames with animated characters and environments, creating a cinematic storytelling experience.
- • The ability to influence the story and shape the fate of the main characters.
- • Nonlinear, branching narrative with multiple paths and outcomes.
- • A haunting original soundtrack that immerses you in an atmosphere of horror and mystery.
- • Interactive elements and mini-games that expand the traditional visual novel experience.
- • 90s retro aesthetic.

So…
As we have mentioned, Pink Noise would be the first of five narrative episodes, according to Somber Games, and although no release date or window has yet been announced, they did let us know that this first episode would launch sometime this year, so all that’s left is to wait, isn’t it?
