A Challenging 2D Dark Fantasy Soulsvania

Volkolak: The Will of Gods is a 2D Soulslike metroidvania, which the developers have fittingly called “soulsvania,” set in a Slavic dark fantasy world, and its story takes us to the Far-Away State, a vast and rich medieval world to explore. After the sinister curse of the necromancer Koschei the Immortal, the inhabitants of the place went mad and turned evil, so it is up to us to fight them through a complex and intuitive combat system.

As a main part of the gameplay, we have the ability to transform into a werewolf, in which form we gain access to additional abilities through altars to pagan gods. On top of that, we have different classes to choose from, and obviously in each one we find different characteristics and skills. In human form we can also equip a wide variety of weapons and gear, and receive blessings from churches.

The environments are finely designed, turning each location into a unique and fascinating representation of Slavic medieval dark fantasy, and they are inhabited by NPCs and narrative adventures unique to each class, with different storylines, which adds a lot of replay value, something we always appreciate, right? Whether it is exploring the Dungeons of Tsargrad, wandering through the Dark Forest, or crossing the Rotten Swamp, this world invites us to get lost among its mysteries and secrets for hours.
