Kibu – A Beautiful Adventure Coming This Year

In the midst of a boom of horror, survival, and visceral action games, this time we bring you something different: a beautiful exploration adventure about the search for wisdom in the heart of nature. Its name is Kibu, it is being developed by Studio Inkyfox and will be published by Future Friends Games, and its release, scheduled for the second half of 2025, will be announced very soon. Kibu will take place in beautiful landscapes, surrounded by a natural world that, among other things, will feel literally alive.

At first glance, this proposal is particularly appealing. Watching the video below, it’s easy to recall The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), or similar titles with beautiful and captivating landscapes. Kibu also adds mechanics of interaction with the elements, which make us feel like we’re mastering them at will, just like Aang, the Avatar! Want to see what we mean? A Beautiful and Captivating Journey

There’s not much we can tell you about Kibu before you can try it for yourself, as there isn’t too much information about it on its official channels. What we do know is that we play as a solitary monk who lives in nature and seeks to commune with the spirits of the land to gradually rebuild the ruined temple he calls home. The wonderful world where this takes place is full of unique and enigmatic environments, with lessons to uncover and obstacles to overcome.

The combat system appears fluid and agile, using the staff as a main weapon, but also as a tool to climb, glide, and traverse wild landscapes. And as if the adventure alone weren’t enough, it’s also possible to collect various items during the thrilling journey, like bonsais, exotic fish, and assorted treasures! The power of the gods will aid in reviving the ruins of the natural temple, which will eventually become a lush natural sanctuary.

In a rather recent news update, the developer made it clear that several mechanics were scrapped, the ones that made Kibu a survival game that quickly fell into a routine cycle that also had to be perfectly balanced to be viable. On the contrary, the game now really aims to be what it was always meant to be: “a beautiful and immersive experience” in which one simply enjoys exploring the world itself much more than progressing through crafting and survival processes. The adventure is immersive and atmospheric, which is far more natural than its initial approach. Now the attention is refocused on the vast and beautiful world, and its many details, hundreds of hidden secrets waiting to be discovered, can you imagine?

Okay, maybe I won’t get tired of saying that Kibu is a beautiful exploration and action adventure that definitely has everything to capture us and keep us hooked for hours, but that’s what I think! Even though it still doesn’t have an officially scheduled release date, it is expected to launch in the second half of 2025, so we’ll have to keep an eye out for upcoming news.
