Engraving – A Different Survival Horror TBA!
Alone, unarmed, and with no clue where we are, only aided by paper, ink and our will to sketch by hand the twisted map of the place where we are. That’s the tense position Engraving sets us in, the upcoming survival horror from indie developer Raffaele Picca whose release will be announced soon. This innovative concept aims to redefine the way we map our surroundings, which will change dynamically as we progress, meaning the only guidance we’ll have is our own hand-drawn map.
Engraving is a first-person psychological horror adventure, with detailed environments and that uncomfortable yet attractive shifting map mechanic, promising gameplay filled with tense moments as we solve intricate puzzles while constantly feeling hunted by something ancient and evil. From Grave Robber to Cartographer
Does your girlfriend complain you’re not a man who gets things done? Don’t worry, here you are exactly that! You arrive in this forest as a mere grave robber in search of precious relics, only to discover the forest turns against you, and an ancient curse begins to rot your body and mind, forcing you to draw a map by hand just to find your way. Congratulations! You’re a full-fledged cartographer! You must take notes, mark locations, and keep a record of the places you’ve been through. If you ever felt overwhelmed by the excess of icons and markers in exploration games, you’re in luck. Your will, your memory and that map you’re creating yourself are your only survival tools.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just finding the way out of this strange and ever-shifting place will keep you safe. Here, death hides in the shadows in many forms, and it won’t give you a break! Even if you manage to escape, you’ll pay a high price if you don’t lift the curse that now weighs on you!
Engraving offers a terrifying, tense and challenging experience, where we must rely on our own wits and determination to reach the end of this nightmare. Its detailed environments and visual effects promise a highly immersive adventure, which, while somewhat reminiscent of old classics like the Amnesia series, shines with a well-defined identity of its own. Pure atmospheric horror where, without our will to push forward, we will literally be lost, and we mean it, since if we don’t make the map that will get us out of that damned forest, no one and nothing will come to our rescue.
