Chasmal Fear: New Horror FPS Set For April!
Okay, this is one of those horror FPS games we all love, with frantic action and constant scares. Chasmal Fear, developed by MystiveDev (Mirror Forge – 2022) and published by Wandering Wizard/Snail Games USA (ARK: Survival Evolved – 2017, The Cecil: The Journey Begins – 2025), will be released through Steam this upcoming April 17th, in less than 10 days! This game, developed with UE5, aims to give us goosebumps by showing the action from a “bodycam” perspective.
In addition to the frantic action, and that highly immersive and powerful narrative device: the use of the bodycam, which will make us feel like we star in Aliens (the 1986 sequel), Chasmal Fear will keep the tension high at all times, forcing us to manage limited resources and make carefully thought-out decisions that will affect the outcome of each game, while we face monsters that will constantly mutate to become more and more powerful. Go check it out in the video we’ve left below:
Frantic Action and Horror in the Ocean’s Depths
The reality is that when we will embark on this dangerous journey, we won’t know much. We will simply have to explore the remains of Magnus, a mysterious futuristic underwater facility where apparently something has gone terribly wrong, in what its developers define, at least initially, as a tactical first-person shooter. On top of that, we will add the obvious horror tone, with strong survival touches, given that we will be forced to wisely manage very limited resources and ammunition. But that won’t be the worst thing in Chasmal Fear.
The frantic action and direct combat will be, at times, something completely optional, since among the choices we’ll have to make, we’ll have the possibility of facing certain enemies, or to do everything possible to stay unnoticed, to sneak through the shadows away from their sight. Also, as if that weren’t enough, many of the enemies we eliminate will later mutate and will come back even stronger than before, so it won’t be strange to find ourselves up against new and powerful foes in areas we had already cleared.

Leaving combat aside, Chasmal Fear will offer endless hidden areas to explore, puzzles to solve, and hundreds of clues that will help us discover what really happened in that ultra-secret facility. Every decision will affect our gameplay experience: some of them will attract entire hordes of monsters, while others will give us those valuable chances to survive using stealth and ingenuity. Also, all this experience will be able to be shared with another friend, to face the dangers of that mysterious place in co-op. Chasmal Fear will dynamically adjust the difficulty depending on whether you choose to play alone or with someone else.
The development in Unreal Engine 5 adds its dose of realism to environments that will feel as enigmatic as they are claustrophobic, possibly to harbor danger around every corridor corner, and to make us feel tense at all times in a place that will suffer completely random dynamic events like collapses, tremors, noises, and much more. Whether alone or in company, this game will present us with a challenge tailored to us, with different ways to deal with it. Do you like the idea?

Chasmal Fear will arrive on the market in less than 10 days, this upcoming April 17th, but you will already be able to go to its Steam page, where in addition to adding it to your Wishlist, you will be able to download its free demo to experience it firsthand! And then of course come back here and tell us what you think! Deal? You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 😉
