Industria 2: A Sequel We’ve Been Waiting For!

In September 2021, the game Industria was released on PC, and in June 2022 it was finally available on next gen platforms, such as Xbox Series and PS5. Its original concept introduced a setting that easily reminded us of Half-Life 2, or even the first BioShock. Set in a turbulent 1989, right after the fall of the Berlin Wall, we took on the role of Nora, a young scientist who ventured into a secret facility to investigate the disappearance of her colleague Walter. Industria did not seek frenetic action, but rather invited exploration, emphasized environmental storytelling and successfully created a constant sense of tension.

Now, in April 2026, we are just one week away from the release of its long awaited sequel, Industria 2. Developed by Bleakmill and published by Headup and Beep Japan, the second installment invites us once again to explore this parallel world where Nora, the protagonist, is trapped, desperately trying to return to her own dimension and time. To achieve this, she will have to face ATLAS, an out of control AI that threatens to devour the entire known world. Industria 2 promises an immersive and slow paced experience, with gunfights, a strong sense of tension, exploration, and a strong narrative focus. Where Do You Think You’re Going?

This sequel picks up the story years after the events of the first game. Nora is still far from home, surviving alone in an abandoned chapel near the coast, in an alternate world built among mechanical structures. When it seems she is about to escape that hostile reality and return to East Berlin in 1989, a new chain of events pulls her once again toward the core of ATLAS, the artificial intelligence that threatens to devour everything, something that is more or less what is happening right now with AI and the internet XD. Alright, back to serious.

Nora soon realizes that she cannot evade her past, and must face the responsibility of her actions, her involvement in the creation of this out of control AI. In this decaying dimension filled with gloomy environments and threats lurking around every corner, the young woman must gather resources, upgrade or craft her equipment, overcome obstacles and solve situations using physics based interactions integrated into the game world itself. Industria 2 will be, like its predecessor, a narrative first person shooter, but it will also emphasize exploration, which will reward us with important narrative elements that will gradually build this unsettling and attractive surreal sci fi story.

A Slow Paced And Immersive Narrative

Bleakmill presents this second installment as a slow paced experience, far from the frenzy of modern shooters, yet still highly immersive and engaging. Among its highlighted features are several upgradable weapons with different attachments, among which we find, for example, silencers, which indicates that we will be able to enjoy, at times, the stealth element that many of us like so much. Its playtime is not meant to be long, but intense, delivering a story that we could finish in a single day, but that will undoubtedly leave deep memories for all of us.

Industria 2 is developed by a small independent studio composed of only a few people, all of them very passionate about their work. On top of that, there is full voice acting, along with dynamic music and detailed sound supported by Wwise, and a graphical presentation built with UE5 and its dynamic lighting system Lumen. If you want to see the full list of its highlighted features, here it is:

  • Immersive, slow paced gameplay: Physics based interaction, crafting and a diegetic inventory ground the gameplay in the game environments
  • A hero’s journey: A narrative FPS to its core, where you’ll meet memorable characters and progress through a touching story
  • Unique setting: Industrial decay in a vast boreal nature meets otherworldly sprawling machine structures
  • Upgradable weapons: Upgrade five weapons with various attachments like silencers, extended magazines or special attacks
  • Robot body horror: Vivid machine oil spilling and body dismemberment lead to intense firefights
  • Compact Indie Experience: A 4 to 6 hour long filler free journey made by a passionate small indie team
  • Cinematic audio: Full voiceover, dynamic music and detailed sound design are merged together by real time audio reflection through Wwise
  • Next gen visuals: Carefully crafted assets are empowered by Unreal Engine 5’s fully dynamic lighting engine Lumen

So…

Okay, this suspense and sci fi gem will be available for PC on April 15, 2026, on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. While there has been no official word about a console release, I personally believe it is only a matter of time, and that it will eventually arrive, just as it did with the first game. If you want to stay up to date, you can visit its Steam page to add it to your Wishlist, and if one week is too long to wait for you, you can download its free demo right now! And of course, once you try it, you can come back here and tell us what you think about this needed sequel to the Industria franchise. You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 😉
