Pragmata: Capcom’s Newest IP, Set For 2026

For several months now, we’ve been hearing a lot about Pragmata, CAPCOM’s next big single-player sci-fi adventure, and also its most recent IP, which according to its official channels will launch sometime in 2026. The little information available shows us an attractive third-person adventure where our protagonist, Hugh Williams, must collaborate with Diana, a next-gen android girl, to survive and make it back to Earth.

As we’ve seen in the videos, the core of this adventure will be the synergy created between Hugh and Diana, through which they’ll face various threats. While the android girl will be able to scan and hack enemies to discover and exploit their weak points, the brave human will have at his disposal a varied arsenal of firearms. This fusion of hacking and shooting will deliver an immersive and strategic experience tailored to each player. Up next you can watch the Official Gameplay Trailer of Pragmata, courtesy of IGN:

An Immersive and Gripping Sci-Fi Adventure

In a not-so-distant future, humanity has discovered Lunam Ore, a unique mineral through which it has developed Lunafilament, a material capable of replicating any tissue as long as its composition data is known. At the beginning of this story, a sudden interruption in communications occurs with the Lunar Station dedicated to the research and development of this new material, so without delay a response team is deployed to investigate what happened. Upon arrival at the Moon, the team is surprised by a massive earthquake that separates them, leaving our protagonist Hugh Williams unconscious, injured, and out of contact with the rest of his team.

Soon, Hugh is found by Diana, a mysterious android in the form of a little girl, a Pragmata created with Lunafilament. From here on, they’ll do the impossible to find a way to survive and return safely to Earth. The synergy that grows between these two unexpected adventure companions becomes the core of the gameplay in this title, making it necessary to use both of their abilities equally to move forward on many occasions.

The Protagonists

Hugh Williams is a member of the team sent to investigate the communication failure of the Lunar facilities. With extensive experience in security and the use of many firearms, the powerful earthquake that strikes them upon arrival leaves him feeling vulnerable and at a disadvantage, something he’s not comfortable with at all. Hugh tends to say what he thinks, sometimes sounding much harsher than he intends, although beneath that tough frankness hides a genuinely kind heart, often revealed during his interactions with his small adventure partner.

Diana, on the other hand, is everything Hugh is not: she’s a Pragmata, a next-gen android created with Lunafilament, with the appearance of a little girl. Diana has the ability to hack the systems of the facilities, as well as the armor of worker and security robots. Always curious and eager to learn, she often reacts with innocent wonder to different situations due to the limited information accumulated about… well, about everything. The android girl seems to develop a special fondness for the name “Diana,” with which Hugh baptizes her after meeting her. Her abilities prove vital on countless occasions, making cooperation between the two essential to solve several of the situations and puzzles they face.

The Gameplay

The enemies Hugh and Diana face are mostly robots of various functions, protected by reinforced armor. To disable it, a hacking panel must be manipulated in the form of a mini-game that, once completed, takes down enemy defenses. Once that obstacle is gone, shooting at the enemies’ weak point deals significantly higher damage. Hugh can equip four types of weapons: main, offensive, defensive, and tactical. The most powerful weapons break once their ammo runs out, making it crucial to synchronize their use with Diana’s hacking. As they advance in the story, both unlock new weapons as well as hacking nodes, which greatly expands the duo’s strategic possibilities.

Throughout the vast map, they have access to escape hatches, which function as fast-travel points that provide the pair with a communication link to the Shelter, the safe base they must often return to in order to update equipment and print new items on the versatile 3D printers. Every new weapon or hacking node they discover will be automatically available for printing in this safe base, in addition to equipment upgrades that are indispensable for facing stronger enemies and overcoming certain obstacles. This Shelter connects to the escape hatches via the Tram, whose route traverses the wide distances of the Lunar Station structure, allowing exploration and combat to resume after saving the game or upgrading equipment and nodes.
