Gamescom 2025: Announcements and News
This year, the Gamescom 2025 event took place in Cologne, Germany, at the Koelnmesse venue. Its Opening Night Live was held on August 19, and the rest of the event took place between the 20th and 24th, leaving us with an endless number of announcements and really interesting news. Among other things, Geoff Keighley himself highlighted this year’s numbers, emphasizing that the event broke its record for visitors and its Opening Night Live reached more than 72 million views, 80% more than ONL 2024, which had over 40 million. This has been the most-watched opening in the seven years of ONL, which Keighley called “a powerful reminder of what happens when the industry comes together to celebrate the future of games”.

This year, 1,568 international exhibitors received 357,000 visitors from 128 different countries, surpassing the numbers of the previous event, which had 1,462 exhibitors and 335,000 visitors from 120 countries. “Gamescom 2025 sets new standards: bigger, more diverse, and more international than ever” stated Felix Falk, managing director of the German Games Industry Association. For our part, as a community we definitely have reasons to feel proud, this time not for a cause we are fighting for, but for a mega-event in which our passion and devotion to the world of video games has been clearly demonstrated.
