The Twilight Project: Immersive Horror TBA

The myths and legends of Thailand offer a rich backdrop for multiple stories of all genres. When it comes to video games, very few have explored this field, so it is no surprise that a title inspired by this setting catches our attention so easily, even more so if it is an immersive third-person survival horror that is comparable in quality and aesthetics to some of the best Silent Hill entries, just to mention one good example of the genre.

The Twilight Project will be Teapot Studio’s first game, and it will transport us to a forgotten village in Thailand, placing us in the role of an American tourist who lost his way. This geographical setting will not only influence the aesthetics and atmosphere, but also the terrifying designs of the creatures we will face, offering us an experience very different from what we’re used to in games set in Western environments. Below you can take a look at the Official First Look Teaser, straight from the official The Twilight Project YouTube channel:

Unexplored Potential in Video Games

In this unique single-player story we will play as a tourist trapped in a remote and mysterious Thai village. The captivating environment that we will see during the day will gradually give way, as night falls, to a parallel dimension full of dangers, distorting reality and plunging our protagonist into the most terrifying myths of Southeast Asia. This dynamic day and night mechanic will be one of the core narrative elements of the experience.

In the daylight we will be able to explore, solve puzzles, and search for resources, but things will change drastically at sunset. During the night, the experience will turn into a survival challenge in which we will have to face the creatures that dwell in the shadows, and they will hunt us down without rest. Over the course of this cycle, we will also have to search for clues that help us discover the dark story behind that cursed place. While some secrets should definitely stay hidden, on the other hand they could mean our only chance of survival!

Highlighted Features

  • Survival and Base Defense Mechanics – Establish safe zones, set up traps or tools to defend against nightly attacks. Resources are limited, and every decision can determine your survival.

So…

It doesn’t take a genius to notice the clear influences of great icons of the genre like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, and obviously at no point are their references hidden. In fact there is a passage that involves a giant crocodile that no doubt sounded familiar to everyone, right? Aside from its references and similarities, it seems clear that The Twilight Project will shine on its own, bringing some survival mechanics and unique touches that will undoubtedly give the game its own identity.

If you read the “TBA” in the title, you’ll know that The Twilight Project still does not have an official release date, but we can expect news about that very soon. While we wait, you can visit its Steam page, which of course you will find right below, and add it to your Wishlist right away so you don’t miss any important announcements. And since we’ll have to wait, how about heading to the comments and telling us what you think about this immersive Thai horror proposal? You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
