EMOTIONLESS: The Last Ticket – Sept. 18th
I believe I can speak for everyone when I say that, without a doubt, we who enjoy horror games have a special place reserved in our little hearts for “cosmic horror,” we all agree, right? Although not all within the genre, lately we’ve received lots of games with similar themes, or somehow set in the work of master Lovecraft, and the thing is we never seem to get tired of them, have you noticed?
In this case, we welcome EMOTIONLESS: The Last Ticket, by X1 Games, which will be launched very soon, on September 18th, and just in case you don’t even want to wait that short time, you can try the free demo right now from its Steam page! In this game we experience mechanics we usually find in “back rooms” style games or ones with different liminal spaces, that rely heavily on suggestion and the tension experienced when going through deserted or empty environments. If we add that to our beloved cosmic horror, the result will be an adventure as immersive as it is terrifying. Exploring a Chilling Abandoned Amusement Park
This game puts us in the shoes of James Anderson, who must undertake a journey to an amusement park that was built by his recently disappeared father. Sooner rather than later, James delves into a surreal world inspired by liminal spaces and elements of cosmic horror, going through empty maintenance tunnels and rides surrounded by trees that whisper the bustle of a past time. In contrast, in other areas of the park we face exactly the opposite, a sepulchral and unsettling silence that seems to surround everything, making us distrust even the sound of our own steps.

The plot guides us through a journey in which there doesn’t seem to be any combat or direct confrontations, but somehow we never stop feeling in constant danger. Even though some places start to look familiar to us, little by little we realize that we never go back to the exact same places, nor go through the same hallways. Getting lost, finding the path, and getting lost again, then arriving at places strangely similar to others we knew but with subtle differences, starts to become something terrifyingly common. We can constantly feel that something is stalking us, even though our first instinct is to try out each attraction one by one, something keeps telling us all the time that we’re not safe there…
Do you really think James feels lucky for that last ticket?

So…
