Quantic River: Neon Steel and Cyber Blades

The new French studio FluidFury Interactive has announced the upcoming launch of its new 2.5D side-scrolling game with a retro-futuristic cyberpunk aesthetic, Quantic River, a proposal that offers a frantic action adventure in a world that reminds us a lot of Blade Runner, a franchise that undoubtedly must have been one of its sources of inspiration, and that can be totally appreciated in this game through its Gameplay Trailer right below.

Quantic River is expected to be released for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, although obviously it still doesn’t have a set release date. However, its Kickstarter campaign will begin very soon, so that anyone who wants to support its development can do so, through the link we’ll leave at the bottom of this article. Now, if you want to know exactly what has caught our attention about this game, you can watch its Official Gameplay Trailer for yourself just below these lines, brought to you by Simple Spec Games:

A Retro-Futuristic Cyberpunk Dystopian World

In this action-adventure story, we will basically play as a cyber ninja, fighting with our katana in fully 2.5D environments, with ultra-fluid and retro-futuristic design that results in a simply beautiful combination. We will have to combine katana combat while unlocking skills and cybernetic upgrades that will allow us to overcome obstacles, hack terminals and enemies, and explore increasingly intricate and challenging levels. The strength of the combat, centered on our powerful katana, will allow us to act quickly and precisely, using blocks, parries, counterattacks, and fluid combos based on timing, reflexes, and control.

You may have noticed in the video that several elements in the environment will suffer from the edge of our weapon, a side effect that will increase immersion and improve our perception of gameplay, as we find ourselves in settings that actively react to our movements and attacks, and also create real-time tactical opportunities. In addition to this, the customization system will allow us to improve combat as well as hacking or mobility, even enabling the activation of “Quantum Anomalies” to slow down time through an overheating system, which without a doubt will be more than useful to change the pace of battle in our favor.

The hacking system will allow us to control security cameras to observe and manipulate the environment from a distance, disabling defenses and opening new paths to access alternative routes in the dual-layered superstructure of each level, which obviously will provide us with important tactical advantages when it comes to overcoming each enemy or difficult situation we encounter. Wires, bullets, sparks everywhere, over-the-top action and the edge of our katana, all combined in a frantic adventure that promises to result in a unique game that you definitely won’t want to miss for anything in the world!

So…

So let’s remember, Quantic River will be released for PC, via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, on a date yet to be determined, although we can expect it to arrive next year, or with a bit of luck by the end of 2025. Its Kickstarter campaign will begin soon, and you will be able to support the project yourself if you wish, by clicking on its official page, whose link you will obviously find below, along with its Steam page, where you can also add the game to your Wishlist. And since we have to wait, how about heading down to the comments and telling us what you thought of this proposal? You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
