Stealth & Narrative: Eriksholm, TBA This Year
Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream is the debut title from River End Games, published by Nordcurrent Labs. Announced just a few months ago at last year’s Gamescom, this isometric stealth adventure with a strong narrative focus has received an impressive reception from the gaming community. And honestly, it’s no wonder! In its debut at the event, Anders Hejdenberg, the game’s creative director, guided attendees through the world of Eriksholm, sharing insights into its story, the creative process, and the ideas that shaped the final game design.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for us to get more. In December of last year, we received the game’s extended trailer, which, besides showcasing several gameplay moments, gives us a pretty clear idea of how deeply stealth is integrated into that impeccable narrative. The look of the world is simply fascinating, and during the cinematics, we’re just a step away from feeling like we’re watching real actors. Personally, I couldn’t help but focus on the facial gestures and expressions as they talked to each other, simply great. But don’t just take our word for it! See the trailer we’ve left for you below and draw your own conclusions:
What Is Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream?
It’s a narrative-driven stealth adventure with an isometric view, set in the stunning city of Eriksholm. According to its Steam page, “When Hanna’s brother, Herman, disappears and the police begin to pursue him, her search sets off a chain of catastrophic events that will not only alter their lives but also the destiny of the entire city.” This way, you’ll follow Hanna’s adventure through the vibrant and lively streets of Eriksholm, a Nordic city inspired by the elegance and rawness of early 20th-century Scandinavia.
In this world, every shadow offers a hiding place, and every corner hides a new challenge. Allies and quick reflexes will be your best tools for survival as the city’s mysteries gradually unravel, revealing forces beyond imagination. Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream has everything needed to captivate us from the very beginning, whether through its flawless gameplay, where you can use evasive tactics and other methods to deal with enemies, or by alternating between three playable characters, each with their own unique features and abilities, or through its visuals, which, beyond anything we could say, you can see for yourself in the video accompanying this article.
As in our previous article on The Bustling World, it’s inevitable to make comparisons with well-known titles like Commandos or Shadow Tactics. However, as in the earlier article, there are many elements that make this title a unique proposition, and without wanting to be repetitive, you just need to watch the trailer again to understand what I mean. You’ve got it now, right?
We still don’t have information on its minimum or recommended requirements, release date, or even an approximate launch window, so, as in other cases, we’ll have to wait for more details. In the meantime, as you know, feel free to drop by the comments section and share your opinion about this title! You know, gamer, we’ll be reading you! 😉
