Control Resonant Starring Dylan Faden / 2026
Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive have announced at The Game Awards 2025 the highly anticipated sequel to (my beloved) Control, from 2019. It will take place in Manhattan, be packed with melee combat, and star Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, the protagonist of the first entry. Control Resonant, a trademark registered by Remedy just a few weeks ago, will be the official name of this sequel, and it will be part of the universe deeply connected to Alan Wake.
In this sequel we will see several changes: while Control was a shooter with abilities and paranormal events, this time it will basically become an action RPG with melee combat. Also, after the female lead of the first entry, now the protagonist will be Dylan, Jesse Faden’s brother, which will make some people relate to the protagonist more, while others might not. To give you an idea of what he looks like, below you can see his Announcement Trailer, over three minutes long, shared on the official PlayStation YouTube channel:
In the near future, the Hiss has managed to escape from the FBC and drastically corrupt the entire city of Manhattan. Seven years after the events of the first game, Dylan wakes up from a long coma and finds a city now isolated from the rest of the world, where reality has been mutated in kaleidoscopic ways, creating all kinds of monsters with unimaginable shapes. Unlike the first title, this time Dylan faces much larger scenarios, which brings endless new possibilities to the gameplay, whose strong point, as we already mentioned, is melee combat, making it very different from Jesse’s 2019 adventure.
In a remote presentation, Mikael Kasurinen, the project’s creative director, explained that they wanted to keep the essence of the original game, but do something new. Alongside the already famous Sam Lake, they explained that this particular sequel to Control is mainly supported by four key points:

Point 1: The story. Perhaps one of the strongest and most consistent threads we have experienced over the last few years, and also one of the most confusing, will once again be an important pillar in this sequel. Kasurinen explained that “each game, Control and Control Resonant, will represent each of the siblings, Jesse and Dylan, and they can be played in any order. In fact, the titles are about the siblings’ attempt to connect with each other.”
Point 2: The Aberrant. The weapon Dylan wields is another strong point of the game’s mechanics. It seems to be an object of power, like those items with supernatural properties we got to know in the first game, many of which gave us powerful abilities. In this case, it is a piece of metal capable of using elements of the environment to form new weapons. This beauty can switch weapons mid combo, turning into maces, swords, hammers, axes, and other tools to finish off enemies!

Point 3: The gameplay so different from the first entry. Remedy wants to offer a more varied experience where player choice matters more. Whether you are exploring, fighting, or customizing the protagonist, there will be many different builds. Dylan has supernatural powers, like fighting while floating in the air, but the opponents also have special abilities, both for attacks and movement: the creative director has promised that “enemies will be unpredictable and relentless!”
Point 4: The differences between The Oldest House and the streets of Manhattan. As we already mentioned, the new setting for this adventure is one of the most famous and visited cities in the world. But even if it is what we might expect, Remedy has made it very clear that this time Manhattan will not be an open world. In fact, they have stated that, in the same way as the FBC headquarters, whose spaces had a function, and each one served a specific purpose, the same will happen with the different places in the New York district. By the way, they also commented that they will share more information about this in spring.

Kasurinen has made it clear that it will be “a world with history”: The city will feature spectacular locations with Control’s unmistakable aesthetic, and it will be isolated by a supernatural wall. Inside it there will be other characters to meet, who will give the player access to many side quests, plus many civilians to evacuate and help. The developer also made it clear that those missions will not be simple “filler”, but rather that they have been meticulously designed to offer new challenges and tell more stories in a world full of secrets.
So…
Remedy Entertainment and Annapurna Interactive will release Control Resonant in 2026, and it will be available for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC both through Steam and, we assume, several other platforms. Obviously, it would be a very smart move to add it to our Wishlist right now on whatever Game Store we prefer. And since we have to wait, but this news is no small thing, how about you swing by the comments and tell us your opinion about the video shared here, and the information provided by Remedy Entertainment? You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
