End of Abyss: New Horror Adventure For 2026
One of the surprises we got during this year’s Summer Game Fest, and perhaps one of the titles we intentionally left out of the list in our article about the event, was the presentation by Section 9 Interactive, which showed us their upcoming horror game End of Abyss, which will be released sometime in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series and PC through the Epic Games Store. It is a sci-fi action adventure whose visual style looks simply fantastic and which will take place in a mysterious underground facility full of secrets to uncover, and horrors that will try to stop us from doing so.
End of Abyss, developed in UE5, will offer an intense and immersive experience that was crafted for us with effort and passion by a small team in the Swedish city of Malmö, under the direction of renowned developers, some of whom are former members of Tarsier Studios, responsible for Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares 2, as well as former developers of the title LittleBigPlanet PS Vita. What Is End of Abyss About?
We actually can’t tell you too much about this story, since not much has been said either in its presentation or through its official sites. What we do know is that this adventure begins in a mysterious underground facility, in which certain disturbances of unknown origin are happening. We, as players, embody the young combat technician Cel, whose mission is to investigate these disturbances and their origin. As the brave girl ventures into the facility, she finds herself in a wrecked and abandoned environment, and her objective from that moment on will be to uncover the truth about what happened there, and the origin of the terrible and monstrous creatures that are starting to stalk her every second.
In this suffocating isometric-view adventure, we traverse enormous and devastated rooms where whispers from damaged machines can be heard from the depths, while we navigate the dangers present in the darkness and try to survive at all costs. For this, it is vital to keep our equipment upgraded and up to date, since the crushing pressure at the depth we are in tests our limits at every moment.
End of Abyss offers us split paths and different hidden zones and secrets to discover, which we will be able to reach using our scanner and the tools we will unlock along the way. As we grow stronger, we will be able to return to those places we had to leave behind because we didn’t have the tools or the necessary skill to reach them, finding new and terrible secrets each time, and pushing us to explore thoroughly.
Personally, I must say that one of the things that has caught my attention the most has been the design of the hostile creatures, which show different levels of mutation, or even mutate in real time right in front of us, splitting or multiplying, and that seem like an amorphous mass made of parts of people, with many arms and legs, and other parts of human bodies. They look simply fantastic, not to say challenging and horrifying! Excellent job, Section 9 Interactive team! 🙂
