ACS: Claws of Awaji Coming In September!

Insider Gaming, the digital media outlet specialized in news and leaks related to the world of video games, has recently stated that Ubisoft aims to launch Claws of Awaji, the first major story expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, very soon, in fact this upcoming month of September. According to the information currently available, Claws of Awaji will offer over 10 hours of additional content, along with a new type of weapon, skills, gear, and abilities. Obviously, we’re still not talking about an officially confirmed release date, but Insider Gaming claims to have obtained this information from anonymous sources very closely involved in the game’s development.

In the same report, the outlet gives us another piece of good news, at least when it comes to the game itself, and that’s that, according to them, the development of the new content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has not been affected by the multiple delays Ubisoft has recently suffered across all its major games, which also supports the idea that we could indeed receive this major expansion in September. On their website they even mention that, in the worst-case scenario, the DLC release could be delayed until October, but that will depend solely on Ubisoft’s release strategy for its upcoming DLCs and game launches.

The same sources have said that the upcoming and much-anticipated co-op mode for Shadows, currently known under the codename “LEAGUE,” is still in development, and its release is planned for sometime in the upcoming year 2026. Previously it was assumed that the co-op mode would allow players to play as Naoe and Yasuke fighting side by side, but apparently that’s not entirely accurate: one source commented that “while they’re obviously central characters, there’s a deeper narrative tied into the co-op that will expand the experience beyond just the two of them.” That gives us the idea that we might be able to play as more characters, and not just our two familiar protagonists.

As for other projects related to Assassin’s Creed, including a new multiplayer title for 18 players, codenamed “Invictus,” and a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, which goes by the codename “Obsidian,” it has been mentioned that both games are progressing well, but that their final release dates will depend on Ubisoft’s new strategy, which still needs to be communicated to its employees, while they analyze the best way for it to be implemented.

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past year and have no idea what we’re talking about, we’ll leave our post here covering all the general aspects of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, so you can dive into this story which, if you haven’t tried before, which we doubt, you’ll definitely want to experience firsthand. Shadows was aiming not just to be a must-play title for fans of the franchise, but also for lovers of the action and stealth genre in general, with the super attractive bonus of being set in feudal Japan, a setting that has brought us many of the best games ever released.

And now it’s your turn gamer: this is where we invite you to jump into the comments and share your thoughts on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and your best experiences playing it, as well as your expectations for Claws of Awaji, which you definitely have, even more so if you’ve finished the main game’s story. You know gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
