In the gaming world, realism plays a crucial role when it comes to new games, right? Well, indie studio Eshed aims to bring us a new survival title that could easily stand out among many others, and as you’ll see in the video, realism is a key element of the gameplay. We’re talking about Dreadzone, a new post-apocalyptic survival game set in a dystopian near future where you’ll have to survive all kinds of dangers like zombies, infected beings, and mutants. And as if that weren’t enough, you’re already infected with the virus!
The gameplay showcased in the video below might remind you of things you’ve seen before, but it has several strong points that we truly hope you’ll notice for yourself. We previously mentioned realism, and we think that the moment you watch the trailer, you’ll understand what we mean. Beyond its stunning environments, the winter clothing, the weapons, the movement, and the mutants, God… Some scenes look like they were ripped straight out of a movie! A Bad Start: You’re Infected!
The year is 2030, and humanity is on the brink of collapse. A devastating virus, Zeno-29, has ravaged the planet, transforming the infected into horrifying mutants and leaving society in ruins. In an attempt to contain the outbreak, governments set up thousands of isolated zones: quarantined wastelands where the infected are dumped to live out their last days.
You? Well, you’re one of the infected, and you’ve been sent to one of these remote zones, a desolate place filled with abandoned factories, ruined houses, underground hideouts, and untamed wilderness. As you might expect, survival is your only option. Supplies are scarce, danger lurks in every corner, and the relentless Zeno-29 is slowly taking hold of you.
In your struggle for survival, you’ll have to scavenge for resources in these abandoned factories and crumbling homes, gathering them while feeling hunted by nature itself. You’ll need to craft tools, collect food, and build shelters to survive while navigating a now-hostile zone full of dangerous wild animals, zombies, mutants as relentless as they are grotesque, and even other desperate survivors.
This zone will show no mercy, forcing you to stay on guard at every moment, with potential threats hidden in every corner, and fearing others like you, whose desperation makes them completely unpredictable. Some will focus solely on surviving the days they have left, prioritizing security and basic needs. Others, however, will venture to explore the zone to uncover its secrets hidden among the forgotten remnants of the world. The boldest among them might even plan how to escape this hellish place.
So, which group will you choose to be part of?
Now, as often happens in these cases where the release date has not yet been announced, we don’t have much more information beyond the general concept. However, I think that by watching the video we’ve included in this article, you’ll be able to decide whether to add it to your Wishlist or not. Of course, we already did!
Although its release date will be announced soon, the developers confirm that it’s set to enter early access shortly. Personally, I have faith that we’ll hear news about Dreadzone very soon.
