This will be the first game from Legion Studio Inc., it still doesn’t have a release date announced, and it’s already stirring up the gaming community. The reasons? Well, you’ll have to check out the video we’ve included in this article and figure it out for yourself. COVENANT is a first-person dark fantasy action-adventure & combat game, that’s exactly how the developers define it on their Steam page, in which you will play as a messenger sent from above. You will be able to use martial arts, secret magic, and ancient weapons in your mission to explore vast interconnected worlds.
The visual aspect we see in the video is simply spectacular, to the point that, even without knowing when it will be released, we already want much more of it. What we have before us, at least for me, brings to mind things I will mention later in the “corresponding” section 😉, but, even with those similarities, it doesn’t stop being a title worthy of being on our radar. This mix of frantic first-person combat elements with the medieval settings and aesthetics of dark fantasy, and obviously, some effects worthy of the new era, gives us a video game that is ready to blow our minds from the very first minute. Below, you can watch the Official Reveal Trailer for COVENANT, brought to you by Legion Studios:
The Messenger From Heaven
In COVENANT, we will experience creation through the eyes of the last living messenger, none other than a warrior angel sent to fulfill the will of the Composers. The oldest among them, a higher being called Malach, has fallen into the abyss, leaving behind a trail of destruction. It will be our task to follow the steps of his final days to discover the nature of his fall, finding the Old Notes, and in doing so, we will uncover the latent forces hidden within Creation.
This interconnected world, Creation, is a land of myths and ancient legends, in which we will discover secrets hidden within other secrets, finding keys that reveal concealed paths to access the darkest corners of the world. In COVENANT, we will encounter puzzles, riddles, platforming, and exploration, all mixed in the right measure, designed to keep us hooked from the very beginning.

The devs describe this setting as an “Interconnected Soulslike World,” which, added to the first-person action proposal, gives us an unmissable combination that we will undoubtedly want to try from the very beginning. In this world, bosses will await us, whose primary objective will be to challenge us, no matter our playstyle: creatures from fallen empires and heroes lost long ago, which will require different methods to be defeated. In many cases, they will be pre-planned strategies, in others, specific weapons, and in some, they will even require being challenged with friends. Oh, didn’t we tell you? In COVENANT, we will have a single-player campaign, cooperative mode, or even PVP, and obviously, the choice will be entirely yours.

Different Gameplay Styles
COVENANT proposes that you dominate the battlefield with melee techniques like never before: in first-person! You will be able to kick, grab, roll, or execute anyone who stands in your way. Movement will be crucial for survival, allowing you to use agile and extremely powerful techniques, even offering you the possibility of doing a bit of parkour in the middle of combat. The PVP, on the other hand, will also allow for this agility, letting you duel other players in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 arenas.

The arsenal will be widely customizable, allowing you to unlock abilities, traits, and hidden catalysts in each weapon. The one-handed and two-handed system from Soulslike games will be present, allowing us to also change the attributes of each weapon at our disposal, and also switch between different stances depending on each situation, adapting combat to our own playstyle. We will have to adapt to our preferred stances, as, for example, two-handed stances will allow us to use more powerful techniques for each weapon, but they will also give us less mobility.
These stances we mention will not only change our fighting style but will define our elemental affinity, even modifying the way we run, jump, slide, and even kick. Each stance is drastically different from the others, so fully mastering each one can be a process that takes us a long time. But, as with all waits, this one will also be worth it, as in this progression system, we will unlock powerful crafting and equipment possibilities, such as weapons, stances, armor, rings, spells, outfits, catalysts, and more!

What Does It Remind Me Of?
Okay, at this point, maybe we’ve all seen the references. A smile forms on my face as I imagine what would happen if you injected Skyrim with steroids while removing the RPG factor and eliminating all the tranquility of Tamriel’s peaceful lands. Well, but as you already know, I have some years as a gamer and blah blah blah, so the most logical thing is that I find references to older titles… Well, obviously, I do!
Let’s see, saving the decades of differences in graphic advancements, this reminds me quite a bit of Heretic, and mainly its sequel, Hexen. Yeah, gamer, go Google them! I know we will soon receive Doom: The Dark Ages, but removing from the equation the title that has not yet been released, the gameplay reminds me of one of the previous Doom, but with swords and magic! And I EMPHASIZE that none of this is negative at all! That the game aims to give this image and achieves it seems great to me! I am personally already adding it to my Wishlist! And you?

According to the developers, the official release date for COVENANT will be announced soon, and it will be available, at least initially, for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. So, as we always say, while we wait, how about heading to the comments and telling us what you think of this idea? You know it, gamer, we’ll be reading you! 🙂
