Flesh & Wire: Returning To POSTAL’s Roots

I think we all remember the POSTAL saga, and while not all of its entries have left a deep mark on us, I’m pretty sure we all remember that first title, the 1997 POSTAL, and its 2016 Redux version. The level of violence and some dark humor in the franchise’s first installment laid the foundations for a strange yet appealing saga that would endure for years. That parade scene, and the massacre of the marching band, will without a doubt never be erased from many minds XD. Running With Scissors has managed to make us uncomfortable for many years, and it seems they plan to do so again soon.

Recently, the studio announced its next game, Flesh & Wire, an action horror FPS that will mix both conventional and improvised weapons, as well as supernatural ones, and whose story will invite us to dig into the psychological roots of the POSTAL series as we explore the twisted reality of an unfortunate victim who will seek revenge against the gunman who changed her life forever. Flesh & Wire was recently revealed at IGN Fan Fest 2026 alongside many other impressive titles. Below we can see the Official Announcement Trailer, obviously courtesy of IGN on YouTube:

A Return To The Roots We Didn’t Know We Needed

Flesh & Wire, whose release we can expect at some point in 2027, has been presented as a first person shooter that will explore the origins of the psychological horror behind the POSTAL series. This time we will play as Angel, a victim dragged into a feverish and bloody dream of conspiracies, searching for answers and for revenge against the deranged shooter who transformed her life forever. While we do not yet have more extensive information about her backstory, at least we know we will have a wide range of weapons available, as well as supernatural artifacts to unleash chaos.

As we have seen, we will engage in ruthless combat against military forces and enemy agents stalking us from the shadows, as well as isolated fanatics on the edges of civilization, and even entities from another world. We will travel through different scenarios that will take us back to locations known from the franchise, and many new ones as well, such as desolate valleys, snowy mountains, and much more. At the same time, we will be haunted by disturbing and grotesque visions that will assault our mind at all times, creating a terrifying environment that a certain voice in our head will call “Dreamscape”.

On this journey of madness, the truth behind the horrific slaughter that once marked the protagonist’s life will await us. This return to the roots of the psychological horror that began the POSTAL series will take us through inhospitable and dangerous places, and will pit us against different nightmares and abominations that could only inhabit the deepest recesses of a sick mind.

Okay, Flesh & Wire has only just been announced, which, as we know, means there is still a lot of work ahead before we can experience it firsthand. Its initial launch window points to some time in 2027, so we will have to stay tuned for any news about it.
