We all remember those classic RTS titles that captured our attention for decades. Personally, I remember Warcraft 2 and 3, the first Starcraft, or the Command & Conquer series, which quite literally made history. Of course, I played almost everything that came out in the genre in later years, but those first titles are the ones I remember most fondly. That said, I’m sure all of us who love classic RTS games can feel lucky, because very soon, on April 24th, Tempest Rising will launch, a full-on Sci-Fi RTS that undoubtedly brings back the best of the genre’s golden era, combined with the technology we have today to give us, as a result, something simply unmissable!
Behind its development we find Slipgate Ironworks (Ghostrunner – 2020, Phantom Fury – 2024), along with 3D Realms (Shadow Warrior – 1997, Ghostrunner – 2020, Ripout – 2024) and Knights Peak (Pathfinder: Kingmaker – 2018, Blast Brigade – 2021, Nikoderiko – 2024) as publishers. Needless to say, none of them are new to creating attractive and addictive games, not to mention that with some of these studios’ titles we literally grew up, right? Well, in exactly one month from now, on April 24th, these studios will bring us a game that, without a doubt, will keep us glued to the screen from the very first moment. Why do we believe that? The Best of Both Eras
Classic RTS action meets modern production and performance in Tempest Rising. Inspired by RTS greats of the 90s and 2000s, Tempest Rising is a classic, base-building real time strategy game set in a modern day alternative history war scenario. It features 3 unique factions, each with its own approach to combat and economy and offering a variety of strategies for players of all stripes, deep and rewarding gameplay that keeps a focus on strategy while rewarding skill, and built-in customization options that allow players to approach the game their way in both single player and multiplayer game modes.
Take on the role of Commander in the highly mobile and advanced peacekeeping corps of the Global Defense Forces or the hard-hitting and desperate Tempest Dynasty in 2 11-mission campaigns that allow the player to customize their army for each mission, as both armies seek to understand and control the mysterious but beneficial Tempest vines that grow unchecked across the war-torn planet Earth. Other dangers wait in the shadows, as the origin of the Tempest is revealed…

Now then, visually we can easily fall in love with the gameplay shown in the video, though as you know, it’s probably best to wait for release and try it out firsthand, we all know that, right? Okay, outside of that, I personally think this is one of those games that has everything it takes for us fans of the genre to start looking forward to it with excitement. And even going a bit further, I’d dare say this title has enough appeal to even attract fans of action or tactical games in general, even if they’ve never played an RTS before.
The only bad news is that we have to wait, even if it’s just a few days that will surely fly by, until it finally launches officially. Now, on the other hand, the good news is, for example, that we can already pre-order it on Steam, and we can even go for its Deluxe Edition, which we’ll get to enjoy 7 days before its final release!
