Beneath: Action-Horror FPS Coming This Year

Beneath: another hidden gem that is set for this year, although it was initially announced in 2023, when its developers, the studio Camel101, intended to release it that same year. Seeing how much its appearance has changed and the clear passion they’ve put into it, we can safely say the wait has been more than worth it. Camel101, who already have a few titles under their belt, such as Syndrome (2016) and Those Who Remain (2020), to name a few, have proven that they are good at creating chilling environments and crafting stories told from a first-person perspective. And I believe an excellent proof of this will be Beneath, the upcoming first-person horror and survival adventure with a strong influence from H.P. Lovecraft, which we hope will finally arrive this year.

When I saw the trailer, it reminded me of some entries from F.E.A.R., especially the second one, perhaps mixed, in essence, with that magical feeling the original Half-Life gave off when it was released (yes, the 1998 original). Please, don’t get me wrong, everything I’m saying is incredibly positive. The truth is, I was simply captivated by the two videos I managed to watch of Beneath, which I’ll leave right here in this article. So, without further delay, here’s Beneath, from Camel101:

Underwater Horror, Survival, and Action

That’s exactly how Beneath is described by its developers. The story puts us in the shoes of diver Noah Quinn, who must fight against nightmare creatures, heavily armed enemies, and even an ancient and terrifying evil, all for the sake of humanity. At first, the experienced Noah is sent on a routine expedition to the ocean depths, which goes terribly wrong. In his struggle to survive, he quickly discovers that supplies are running low and, despite finding many weapons to aid him, ammunition is even scarcer.

Its developers emphasize the survival aspect of the title, forcing Noah to manage his resources to the extreme. His battle is not easy, as before he even realizes it, he finds himself facing horrific mutations, deadly creatures, and even his own progressive madness while uncovering a sinister conspiracy that threatens humanity itself. And, as if all this weren’t enough, Noah’s daughter’s life is at stake, turning this unexpected adventure into a frantic race against time. Do you really need more ingredients?
